Russel Wright (American, 1904-1976) was one of the leading designers for industry in the 20th century. He is well known for his method of design, which stemmed from his belief that the table was the center of the home. His colorful American Modern dinnerware design for Steubenville Pottery in Steubenville, Ohio, was produced between 1939-59. Many brides selected their dinner service in coral, granite, chartreuse, sea foam or other popular colors which could be mixed and matched. The seemingly endless shapes were simple yet celebratory.
