One might think that the Dinnerware Museum in Ann Arbor collects only functional pottery.  In fact, the collection contains grandma’s vintage dishes, but also fine art referencing dinnerware (sculpture, photographs, and more).  Robert Sabuda’s fabulous pop-up book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (2003), which includes the infamous tea party scene with Alice, the Mad Hatter, and the Door Mouse, is a new favorite in the permanent collection of the Dinnerware Museum.

Robert Sabuda is a native Michigander and has all the answers about his life as an artist (or paper engineer) at his website http://wp.robertsabuda.com/pop-up-questions.  There is even an organization for people who love and collect pop-up books – the Movable Book Society (founded in 1994).
